Wellness Vaults

Peace and well-being are the feelings aroused under an arch. These are the positive properties that stand in the foreground when buying a wellness vault that offers its users pleasant relaxation after a busy day. The barrel vault, with its generous curves and an arch span up to 10 metres, is ideal for such a building project.

The special hygroscopic properties of the natural building material brick are an added plus. The bricks, made from fired clay, absorb excess humidity and give it off again when the humidity drops. Thanks to the attractive curves of a vault, the room air can circulate freely, preventing the room from developing a musty smell. The high lime content in the brick additionally has a natural antiseptic effect. Whole wellness landscapes can be constructed by combining various types and sizes of vaults. Especially attractive buildings are created by fitting glass and window elements at the ends of the vaults, giving a spacious view of the environs outside from the light-flooded inside.

A classical Finnish sauna of wood can then be built into the vault or the vault can be equipped with a so-called hypocaust heating system, as already used more than 2000 years ago in roman baths. In this system brick pipes in the wall irradiate a constant and cosy warmth without causing unpleasant layers of different temperatures. Electricity or - ecologically and economically more sensible - wood can be used for the heating system. Depending on your personal preference, the sauna grotto can be used as caldarium (hot temperatures), tepidarium (lukewarm temperatures) or as sudatorium (sweat bath with high air humidity).
