Barrel Vault

The romantic barrel vault
Vaulted cellar delivered in practical prefabricated elements

We came up with the idea to prefabricate vaulted cellars as solid elements in our factory and to put them together later on site back in 1974. Since then we have delivered and assembled more than 3,100 solid brick vaults in Germany and beyond - primarily the barrel vault, which is one of our most-sold models.

A barrel vault is a vault with two equally long parallel skewbacks and the art of closing rooms with an arch instead of a flat ceiling was already well developed back in antiquity.

Amazingly short construction time
Our solid roman barrel vault, which is delivered in elements, ensures quick and troublefree construction. A suitably sized foundation slab is needed for installation/erection. The brick elements prefabricated in our factory and delivered to the site on our company truck with crane are then placed on the slab. Thereafter the elements are joined together firmly. In this way it is possible to erect a complete vault within a few hours.

Sizes and possibilities
The height is proportional to the width of the barrel vault, which can range between two and 10 metres. The length of the vault is determined by the number of individual elements lined up one after the other. If there is sufficient space available, whole vault landscapes can be created by docking on further vault elements on the sides. Thanks to their stability, barrel cellars can also be constructed underground so that the area above them can be renaturated completely. In this way it is possible with an opening to a house to create additional space. Whether you then use the vault to store wine or as a wellness landscape is up to you. Used as a standalone sauna, the barrel vault also irradiates a special charm. Particularly impressive is also if the vault is used to reinforce a slope and the ends are fitted with glass elements giving you a view into your garden or countryside beyond. No matter how the vault is used: the natural building material brick will ensure a balanced room climate.

So you see, the possibilities are many and varied. We hope we have inspired you and will gladly help you fulfil your dreams. Speak to us!
