Vaults

Vaults have a tradition in the history of mankind going back thousands of years.

Vaults are self-supporting, which means that the static forces acting on them from above are transmitted to the ground along the course of the arch without the need for support by pillars or columns.
In the time before steel structures were available vaults were the only possibility to construct spacious buildings such as churches, baths or theatres.
Vault construction with bricks was a complicated matter before 1974 in which a formwork of timber first had to be built before the vault was constructed brick by brick.
In 1975 Neuschwander began manufacturing vaults with prefabricated components. This has reduced the work required to build vaulted cellars for food and wine storage immensely. The vault is assembled component by component within a few hours.
We have since delivered and assembled more than 3,100 barrel vaults and cap vaults in Germany and beyond. Quick erection, the solid brick construction and the related budget reliability are persuasive arguments in this regard.
We would like to show you that vaults are not only suitable as storage cellars, but have a wide variety of possible uses.
